Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between title case and sentence case?

Title Case capitalizes the main words of a heading, such as "The Quick Brown Fox". Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence and proper nouns are left as you typed them, such as "The quick brown fox".

Which words stay lowercase in Title Case?

Short words such as a, an, the, and, but, or, for, of, in, on, at, to and with stay lowercase, unless they are the first or last word. Style guides such as AP, APA and Chicago differ a little, so check your guide for formal writing.

What are camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and kebab-case used for?

They are naming styles used in programming and web addresses. camelCase and PascalCase join words without spaces, snake_case uses underscores, kebab-case uses hyphens and CONSTANT_CASE uses capital letters with underscores.

Does it work with accented letters and other languages?

Uppercase, lowercase and the programming cases work with accented letters and many alphabets. The programming cases remove punctuation and join the words. Rules for capitalizing titles and sentences are designed for English.

What does Sentence case do to words like I or proper names?

It lowercases everything first and then capitalizes the first letter of each sentence. Names and the word I will need to be capitalized by hand afterwards.

Is my text saved or sent anywhere?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and your text is not stored or sent to our servers.
