How the Number of Days Is Calculated

Days = |End date βˆ’ Start date|
Weeks = Days Γ· 7
Months β‰ˆ Days Γ· 30.44
Years β‰ˆ Days Γ· 365.25

Example: from October 25, 2026 (a Sunday) to December 25, 2026 (a Friday) is 61 days. That is about 8.7 weeks, 2.0 months or 0.17 years, or 1,464 hours. Counting both dates, the period has 45 working days and 17 weekend days.

The calculation uses real calendar dates, so leap years are handled automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later date. For example, from January 1 to December 31 in a normal year is 364 days. Enter the two dates above and the calculator does it for you, including leap years.

Does the calculator include the start and end date?

The total days figure is the difference between the dates, so it does not count the end day. The working days and weekends counts include both the start and end date, so together they add up to one more than the total days. If you want to include both dates in your total, add 1.

What does the working days number mean?

It counts Monday to Friday between your two dates. It does not remove public holidays or company days off, so subtract those yourself if they apply.

Why are the months and years shown as decimals?

Months have different lengths, so the calculator uses averages. A month is taken as 30.44 days and a year as 365.25 days. The figures are good estimates, and the exact day count is always the main result.

What if my end date is before my start date?

It still works. The calculator shows the positive number of days between the two dates, whichever one comes first.

How do I find the date that is 30 or 90 days from today?

Use the Quick Select buttons to set a period such as Next 30 days or Next 90 days, then read the end date. You can also set your own dates in the boxes.
